Itinerary
Stage 1: Origin – Llançà – Portbou
Technical information: 10,70 KM – slopes +462/-490 – 4h45’
Arrival in Llançà at the meeting point to start with the first stage that takes us from the town of Llançà to Portbou. From Llançà we will walk through Cap Ras, step the sand at Garbet beach and we will continue our route until we reach the town of Colera. To get to Portbou we will cross the range, which offers spectacular views of the Costa Brava and charming coves. Upon reaching Portbou, we finish our route. Here we will take the train back to Llançà, we will go to the hotel to check-in and we will be able to eat at any of the restaurants in the villa. Free afternoon. OPTIONAL: In the afternoon we can visit an 11th century house that is right in the centre of town and where there is a craft distillery where they make 16 different varieties of liqueurs, all made with Empordà herbs. Free dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
Stage 2: Llançà – El Port de la Selva – Llançà
Technical information: 13,00 KM – slopes +514/-500 – 5h15’
With the second stage we will head towards Port de la Selva to make a circular route. We will pass through Coll de Perer to go down to Santa Creu valley until we reach Port de la Selva. After a well-deserved rest, we will return back to Llançà, skirting the coast. We will see coves and beaches where we can enjoy a swim: Port de la Vall, Cau del Llop, Les Tonyines and La Farella. Upon arrival in Llançà, lunch and afternoon free. OPTIONAL: kayak tour from Llançà to Cap Ras cove, which offers views of Cap de Creus, where we will taste 3 wines with Empordà CO. Finally, free dinner and accommodation at the hotel in Llançà.
Stage 3: Cala Monjoi – Cap Norfeu – Cala Monjoi – Roses
Technical information: 11,45KM – slopes +504/-504 – 5h30’
Departure from Llançà to go to Cala Montjoi, meeting point to start our route today, making a circular route that is part of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. To get to Cap Norfeu we will hike through Cala Calitjàs, Cala Gandall, Cala Pelosa, and Torre Norfeu, until we reach Cap Norfeu. On the way back, we will pass by Punta Trona, Cala Joncols and Torre Morisca until reaching again at Cala Montjoi, where we can stay to eat at the beach bar while we bathe. In the afternoon, we will go to Roses to check-in at the hotel. Free dinner and accommodation.
Stage 4: Roses – Pic de l’Àliga
Technical information: 10,20 KM – slopes +530/-530 – 5h15’
Today, this circular route will take us to the highest point of all the stages: El Pic de l’Àliga, where we will be amaze by its spectacular 360-degree views. We will see the Pyrenees, the Alta Garrotxa, the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the Albera and much of the Costa Brava. Surely, along with the previous stage, one of the toughest, but also, visually, the most gratifying one. Lunch and free afternoon. OPTIONAL: we recommend doing an activity that is a bit adventurous but that you will love: Parasailing. In the evening we recommend going to a beach bar and enjoying a Chillout-beach-night and a beautiful sunset while dinning. Hotel accommodation.
Stage 5 – Roses – Bunkers L6 – L’Escala
Technical information: 11,0 KM – slopes +450/-450 – 5h00’
We start the route from Cala Illa Mateua, bordering the coast, passing by Punta Gorda, Cala Montgó and enjoying part of the Montgrí Natural Park. It is a route with an incredible historical load, where we can enter the battery of Bunkers built at the time of the Second World War. Also, remains of pirates, feudal lords, Romans, smugglers and caches with 2,000 years of history will be very close to you. We recommend eat at Illa Mateua itself. Free afternoon or OPTIONAL: we offer you an incredible adventure; your first dive. You will be baptized, helped and controlled by an expert instructor (those who do not want to do this activity will have the opportunity to go with the group and snorkel). Check-in at the hotel, free dinner and accommodation.
Stage 6: L’Escala – Montgri
Technical information: 9,5 km – slopes +700/-700 – 5h30’
After breakfast, at the indicated time, we will go to the meeting point in Torroella de Montgrí to start the day trekking through the most beautiful and magical places of Montgrí Natural Park. We will pass through the different Neanderthal burrows (Cau del Duc, Cau de l'Olivar, Cau d'en Calvet) and hidden crevices, through Montgrí Castle and the Hermitage of Sta. Catalina while being told all the history and anecdotes of these different places. Finally, lunch and free afternoon, OPTIONAL: we recommend you visit a mill, which is the only one that still produces following with the old method. The visit offers us a tour of the traditional stone oil facilities, we will access the work area where we will see the whole process. Once the visit is over, we go to a room where an explanatory video is projected and they will offer us an oil tasting with coca bread made with firewood, olive groves and chocolate. Finally, we will return to l’Escala. Free dinner and accommodation at the hotel.
Stage 7: L’Escala – Medes Islands Coves
Technical information: 11,00 km – slopes +600/-6000 – 5h30’
After breakfast, at the indicated time, we will go to the meeting point next to L'Estartit to start a route through the hidden coves of the Costa Brava, which offer incredible views of the cliffs and caves of the Medas Islands. On this route we can experience and get excited enjoying some coves where we can only access on foot, such as Cala Falaguer, Ferriola, Pedrosa, Cap d’Utrera, Cap del Castillo, Cova de l’avi Company and Cova del Falaguer. A route to enjoy the wildest landscapes of the Costa Brava and the Medas Islands. Lunch and free afternoon. OPTIONAL: we recommend taking a boat tour. We leave l'Estartit harbour and sail bordering the Montgrí massif: cliffs, coves, we pass under the La Foradada rock ... and, whenever the sea allows it, we enter one of the three caves. On the way back, we head to the Medas islands. In the boat there are some crystals on the ground helping you so you can see the bottom of the sea. If the water temperature allows it, we stop in a corner of the coast to enjoy a swim. Free dinner at l’Escala and accommodation at the hotel.
Stage 8 – L’Escala – Kayak
The last stage will be done with a kayak after breakfast and check-out. Departure at the agreed time to the meeting point and start a guided sea kayak excursion through one of the most captivating places of the Empordà coastline; an activity that is very respectful with the environment in order to preserve these natural spaces. With us you will find a quality service to make your kayak trip a real privilege. After the activity, free lunch and end of our services.
